Mask Series
For the past few years I've worked on a series of three-dimensional paintings incorporating facemasks. I like examining the relationship between colors and their ability to suggest emotions. I incorporate facemasks to inject the human nature of emotions.

The facemask provides a link to humanity that the otherwise abstract designs lack. Some of the paintings feature multiple masks. Instead of a one-on-one experience the viewer is confronted by a group of "faces". The inscrutable nature of these hidden blank faces creates a distant, sometimes sinister, otherworldly feeling.

In Toxic Waste Color viewers are confronted with faces emerging from a black tar-like goo. The pipes ooze bright fluorescent colors that glow in the dark. Neon paint drains from these "sewer" pipes suggesting radioactive hazardous waste, but the brightness and purity of the colors are more compelling than revolting.

There are nineteen paintings in the Mask Series so far. I still add to the Series from time to time.
